The Munich Police Headquarters, one of the ten police headquarters in Bavaria, is located in the heart of the city of Munich.
The Munich police force is responsible for the Bavarian capital and its administrative districts with an area of about 1,000 square kilometres and a population of more than 1.7 million people.A total
of around 6,200 police officers are responsible for maintaining security. Of these, 1,200 work for the criminal police. In addition, the police headquarters has about 900 employees.
With this personnel infrastructure, it was possible to reduce the number of offences in 2017 compared to the previous year and despite the growing number of citizens. At the same time, we have succeeded in raising the detection rate.
In a nutshell: increasing population, fewer offences, more solved cases! Munich is one of the safest cities in Europe.
In addition to the many major operations, such as the annual Munich Security Conference with numerous high-ranking state guests, the Oktoberfest or the FC Bayern Munich soccer matches, the police headquarters is constantly working on projects: For example the pilot project Body-Cam, the expansion of the police messenger service and since June 2017 the Munich police have 37 super-recognisers certified by the University of Greenwich, to name only a few.
