The Juridicum is the Law Faculty of the University of Vienna. It is the oldest and largest legal faculty in the German-speaking world. For more than six centuries the Law has been researched and taught here. Today the faculty hosts more than 10,000 students and about 600 employees.
The Department of Innovation and Digitalisation in Law, being part of University's of Vienna School of Law, is a recently founded research unit dedicated to scientific research on all issues of Information and Communication Technologies at the University of Vienna. Its head, Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Forgó, was recently appointed. Among his tasks is the objective to stratify, bundle and foster the existing research initiatives on digitalisation and IT at the law school. Nikolaus has a track record of 25 years working on IT and IP-law, including more than 15 years as professor, PI and institute leader at Leibniz Universität Hannover. He has served as PI in more than 20 European research projects (FP6, FP7, Horizon 2020, IMI, etc.) with a focus on data protection, data security and intellectual property.
